I see not everyone has decided to do CSC. http://stats.distributed.net/csc/tlist.php3?low=1&limit=100&source=y
We are 38th so far.
There are only 13 of us showing support for the team, and we are all pulling our weight. I was suprised to see I was 1st for team. YEAH>>>> I'm at the top of some list.. http://stats.distributed.net/csc/tmember.php3?team=9742&source=y

Lets get out there and kick some CSC ****, RC5 will be here when we get back.
My conversion to CSC via the new client wasnt that hard, I have a shared folder on the network and I modified each users login bat to run a shortcut from there. But for those of you with older clinets spread out, it will take some manual intervention to convert.

Just my 2cents.

alot of people have put in far too much time on rc5 to abandon it at this point...I believe if you start something you should see it through to its completion....read some of the other threads concerning csc and you will find a pretty general consensus about this...good luck with csc and congrats on being #1

We are not abandoning RC5 we are continuing the D.net project.
This encompasses everything they have. Most of the gripes everyone has claimed in other thread consist entirely of "I'm going to lose my RC5 rankings". Another is that we msut all upgrade to the new client 446 to participate. THis may involved phsycially re-loading on each machine. Point taken. But those are the beasts of burden.
Sounds like pure laziness to me, Shouldnt we as sysopt team members be on the conquest to always better the last things we've done?>
We have the technology to rebuild ANYTHING, Faster stronger, better.
CSC wasnt designed to replace RC5, neither was RC5 supposed to be the sole focus of all its members.
If you re-read D.net goals on each project its states something to the effect: (I'll summarize) CSC helps keep the fun in teh project be giving the members a chance to participate in a shorter contest. RC5 will be here when CSC is over and is designed to last for several years.
Look at the overall stats, how many people do you see with like 5 gazillion blocks completed over 20 years (sarcasm intended).
The "little" projects such as CSC, DES(all variations) are implemented to give something else to work at, when the lowly beginner ie: Like myself, a different focus.
I'm not discounting either project, but Im doing my part for the whole organzation not just sysopt team.

Go Team, Go D.net

I've put some school machines onto CSC, but my home ones, and laptops are staying RC5.

Note for Virus - upgrade to the current proxy if you already haven't and thanks for fixing the proxy. PS when you get a chance change rc5@bkehoe.com to bkehoe@esatclear.ie

Thanks,
Brendan
