Its kinda sick why ppl create viruses... Dont they have something better to do? It makes me wonder what their goal with this kinda actions are? Some say the Anti-Virus companies are making the viruses, but I dont know...

know what you mean about that and I hate to say it too. but, if they don't create new virus. we don't buy new software.

Yeah, i was downloading a patch from via chipsets website, when all of a sudden a big blue screen pops up and its Norton Antivirus saying that the file I'm downloading is a possible virus, so I deleted it...I'm fine now, but that's kinda weird, never happenned to me before.

It's my impression that virii began as programming errors.
The news reports on the "Love Bug" indicated it came from among computer students in the Phillipines. We all learn from our mistakes at some point.
There are people who trade and study virii. The problem comes of course when they get loose...
I do think there are some who do this on purpose. We can only speculate as to why.

Seems to me that there are enough instances of this to keep the anti-virus software companies more than busy enough. If such a company did that to sell the cure, I think they would be out of business pretty fast. These things do get traced back.

I inclined to lean toward Seph's idea.

isnt it convienient that the DoS ebay attacks from earlier this year....
Gore just had a bill up for vote on how we "NEED" the internet police to protect us from the "evil" virus writers.

the timing was just too good- that bill needed alot of preparation...then the DoS attack???
