Since were doing case badges and stuff like HardOCP, we might as well do an ICQ active list. Trouble is, I dont know how to do it, anyone care to tell me.

Contact Auraedge. He has one set up already. I don't know the number b/c I reformatted since then and nolonger have ICQ on my system so... Do a search for this topic and the number is bound to be posted here somewhere.

Thanks. I found out by searching that the SysOpt Active list is #66168596. I'll add myself to the list tonight, as I'm not at home at the moment.

I will host it when I get DSL, but my telco says that could be anything upto 5 months.

I'd be glad to host it. I have cable. I don't know how to set it up though. Send some info my way and I'll set it up.

Thanks daveleau, I dont know how to do it personally, but AuraEdge does, so, if he can tell daveleau it would be great.

I havent had it up for a while - I set it up a LONG time ago, but ran into numerous problems for some reason with it deleting the list (did that about 2 times a week). After being frustrated, i just dropped it. If you make a new one, Ill be glad to join up...Its just a pain with the list being deleted all the time (I think it was due to my dialup kicked me off at least once every 2 days, and the program thinkin its still on)

If someone has a permanent connection, I think they would have an easier time hosting it.

Ill be glad to administrate, if needed, posting news, accepting members, hosting chats, and the like. I just dont want to host the actual server anymore.

What is this SysOpt ICQ thing? How do I add my ICQ number to it?

I feel like I am being left out...

It is in the works. I have had enough partying this week (yeah right http://sysopt.earthweb.com/forum/smile.gif) so I will work on it tonight. I just need the software and then it is supposed to be fairly easy (I think). I have cable and my system is on 24/7. Should work out fine. The only thing I could see happening would be that my cable is still in Beta testing and thus may be down at times. I have ad it a month and it has only gone down once so... I'll keep you posted.

Yo FrozenLiquidity,
What is an ICQ active list?

You can create or join ICQ communities based on a common interest and easily access them from your ICQ program. In addition to your original Contact List, you may open your chosen or personally created Lists and communicate with your friends or associates.

Once you join an ActiveList you get cool window features and a whole lot of possibilities. You can broadcast and recieve events to all the List's members, post and view news, view information and configure your preferences.

You can also become an ActiveList owner, which gives you total control over the List. You can delegate authority to any member of your List.

I got that from ICQ website.

SysOpt used to have its own Active List, but it requires someone to have a 24/7 inet connection and PC running ICQ's active list server on a pc. As I do not have a 24/7 connection, just a humble 56k telephone line, I cannot do this.

I do beleive Daveleau had offered to host it, and he should receive instructions from AuraEdge.
