more on the heat and rc5 issue

hmm ive done further research on this issue and i notised that the CPU got about 20c hotter with the client running maybe this is because i have a .35 m klamath 2,8 v 300mhz cpu but its an alarming increase in heat the cpu is about 35c in normal use but with the RC5 klient it gets up to 55c have u guys any info about this ??

Uh, your CPU is going to run hotter. It is operating at full capacity when running the RC5 program and that takes lots of electricity which in turn gives off lots of heat.

Although Intel says the CPU is OK at the elevated temp you're reporting, you might want to increase cooling a bit anyway. Many overclockers like to see 40C as a max temp.

when the system is idle the operating system or other applications like waterfall execute s the stop clock cpu function which tells the cpu to turn off parts of the cpu for that idle cycle and helps to keep the processor cool. When you are running the client the system is not idle and the processor does not receive the stop clock function, therefore the cpu gets hot because it has no chance to rest.
