I have ver. 2.7106.436 Win32 GUI Client. How can I tweak the software to get all I can get? I took the "suggestions" from the benchmark applet but is there anything else I can do? My PC just sits idly by all day long while I'm at work and I'd like to maximize crunchin' while I toil away. Any ideas?

I recommend you do a CTL+ALT+DEL and shutdown any unneeded programs & services. And if possible just leave systray and explorer running, preferrably after a fresh reboot.

That's good advise and I'm already there. I was speaking more specifically about tweaking the client software. http://www.sysopt.com/forum/smile.gif

If you do not have a constant internet link you should increase your buffers. That is if you have not already. The buffer is the amount of key blocks you have stored at the ready on your machine to crack. If you run out of blocks while you are not connected, the client slows way down trying to hook up, and does random blocks which may or may not be already used. Make the in and out buffers the same and try to get at least 24 hours worth of blocks.

As far as other tweaks, there is not much you can do. Turn off any screen saver you have except blank screen or better yet just set your monitor to go into standby mode. The screensaver takes big resources away from the client. It is mostly a matter of optimizing you machine to run as fast as it can, and eliminate unneeded tasks running that sap CPU time. The client software is as optimized for speed as it can get, just make sure it has keys to crack and nothing on the machine can interfere.

If you have a constant link to the internet, you can even log out of windows and the client will continue to crunch away. I do this sometimes as I am on a DSL link. That eliminates most of the things running on your machine and gives the rc5 client all the resources it deserves.

Hey RED5, where can I get a copy of .417 client?

I am running .432 right now. It is the fastest I can find around.

You can try all clients and see for yourself which one is the fastest.
