Well, first off, what do you plan to primarily plan to use the system for? Gaming, Work, or Graphics(rendering)?
Either way I think a celeron is the cheap way to go. You get more bang for your buck. But I would put in a BX motherboard using the 370 to slot 1 adapter.(if you need it)
of course more memory, the better http://www.sysopt.com/forum/smile.gif
but at least 64 PC100

Thanks for the Input Izzy... Basically I use my computer for everything... And have pleanty of experience inside the intel realm. However, after reading how people are over clocking the K-6's and the sock7 stuff.. For the price it makes me think the AMD is the way to go minus some compatibilities. I obviously need a lot of help to do this considering I know Jack about the AMD and other.. Check out this same post in General Disc.... Thanks again!
Go with a Celeron, they are faster, cheaper, more overclockable, er, that about covers everything. My k6-2 300 (when it works) is vastly outperformed by my celeron 366 (about 120 percent faster in non 3dnow programs) in games, and you cant tell the difference in windows performance at all. For a motherboard, go Asus, they are the absolute best there it, a TNT2 would make a great video card, and more ram is always better, get what you can afford, but prioritize to 128MB if you won't be doing heavy graphics work, or 256MB if you will be.
