Local provider is advertising this service from IMagic, Inc:
Up to 10 Times Faster Than a Regular Dial-Up Connection!

The Fastest Dial-Up Access Service Available Anywhere!

UNLIMITED user speed and control panel features.

Personalized user speed engine control panel.

Pro-Version Satisfaction Guarantee
Increase the speed of your dial up connection with the iMagic Professional Version! Guaranteed faster throughput speeds than any other dial-up access available!

It is important to note that iMagic's Dial-Up Transcoding technology is not a replacement for DSL or Cable because of the technology's limitations, but the average user will find it to be a great alternative without the higher price of DSL and Cable.

Am currently unable to gain access to DSL or cable. Want a little faster download time.
Anybody out there using this or heard of it?
$89.00 setup fee, 23.95 month.

Did you ever try this out?

Sounds like a benefit is the reducing of perceived excess content (like banner adds). this way the available bandwidth is better utilized. Also the "Transcoding provides the ability to change data on the fly in real time" sounds like it may change picture graphics resolution 9akak reduce) to further improve efficiency.

"What’s Banner Ad cutting?

Banner advertising is found on most commercial sites. These images take bandwidth and time to transfer. Removing banner ads can decrease page load time up to 50%. These ads have become an overwhelming part of some sites with as many as 10 ads on a single page"
