Ok, I recently purchased a D-link 4 port router and have succesfully set up the internet on 3 computers. The problem comes in trying to play games like Counter-Strike. It plain won't let me in. I know if i make one the DMZ host then that computer can play, but is there any way to get all 3 the ability to play?

Don't know about CS, but most online servers do not let multiple login's from the same IP, which is what your computers all come from when they are behind the router. Obviously this is done to prevent cheating with multiple logins and running of bots.

CS allows multiple logins from the same IP? I don't play CS, have never really seen it except in reviews. Kinda nice that someone out there realizes that multiple people like to play from the same location. http://www.sysopt.com/forum/smile.gif

change your client port on each CS client. the problem is that all users default to port 27005 for connections, the server is getting connections from your IP and the data coming back from the server is getting all mixed up due to all clients attempting to connect through the same port. What it comes down to is the NAT in the Dlink router is pretty weak. I used a windows 2000 server for routing in the past and now switched over to a linux gateway and have never had a problem with up to 5 people playing in the same server. when i did dsl support, supporting ECI telecom modems that have crappy NAT code in them the only way to make it work was changing each clients port to a diff one than the other clients ont he lan.

Dont know about CS myself, but here are a few sugestions.
First off, try loading IPX protocol.
Some games dont do TCP/IP, instead they use IPX.
Also, I have had problems myself running games from M$ via the Zone. (or whatever its called)
I could play different games off there net, but just not the same one on two machines.
I could play X-wing vs Tie Fighter on e one PC, and Ages of Empires on the other, but they could not play the same games at the same time.
Never had a problem with Diablo II, until this stupid 109 patch.
Now the game doesnt run at all!!!!
Anyway, I changed the subject. Sorry.
Try IPX on both PC's and see if the game will work then.
Also, see if you can see the other machine on the network, making sure they have unique IP addresses.
good Luck
