well lets just start off saying what i have.

i have a NetGear Router RT314, later after we bought it were we told this model had problems connecting to the net... after i learned howto setup the network on the computer and watch the tech come and doit for us... the rest was pretty simple...

so, i dont know what the problem was or if it was fixxed in the first firmware we installed to it... anyways thats nothing to do with the question.

Websites for example

<u>www.royalbank.com </u> - Does not work at all for us, and i beleive is using ASP for its language
<u>www.fileplanet.com </u> - the registration + Logging in pages dont work, this site is done in ASP for sure, because i can surf some of the website. thats basically the only problem
<u> Gamespy.com </u> - very similar to Fileplanet(built with the same company back bone..) i cannot register for the forums or try to get to sign in pages, that go's the same for all other ASP sites.

------------------

1 website, which is the most important is the RoyalBank.com my mother recently got onto this new "online" banking thing, and she was all hyped until the websites started working. i tried all things to my knowledge

1) ping my webhost to see if there are fine (sometime they choke for a bit,) but they were fine
2) i pinged the royalbank.com (i get timeouts) so i send a message to a friend (whom lives in texas, just for geographical knowledge) he seemed to access it FINE no worries.
3) i accuse ASP as being the # one cause of this problem ;-)
3.b) try using all browsers from opera, mozilla, IE, NS ectect. (NO WORK :-()
-------------

another thing that lead me to beleive its my router
1) our computers have 2 different NIC cards, so if it was possibley that, one of them has a chance of getting to it if the other doesnt...
2) The Modem is the same as a friend of mine has in town, i went to his house, and i actaully made an account @ Fileplanet.com in no time flat, only difference between him and i are that hes using a D-LINK router...

-----

anyways that concludes why i beleive its my router, and nothing else... if you can help me in this situation reguardless if its not my ROUTER... please do as it would be very appreciated over here :-)

thankyou for your time

Well www.royalbank.com (http://www.royalbank.com) is using HTML not ASP for their website. But I know that some websites require that the "ident" port (port #113) be allowed to pass thru. Which ports are you forwarding if any? What happens when you forward ports such as the Ident? or allow your router to "respond to Wan request"?

i forwarded port 113 to my computer (only), and it still sits there

so i opened a range from 100-120 to see if that would help any... nothing so far :/

What happens if you put your computer "in front" of the router (no firewall) ??

i would have to setup software and take off all my network settings for me to connect to the internet (did it one other time and it wasnt much funn at all)

but it would probably run fine... as far as i know.

Well at that point you would know that it was the firewall that was killing you and then you can troubleshoot just that
