I need a really good image creating software to be used for websites. I've used a Microsoft Image Composer which comes bundled with Frontpage 2000. It's rather plain and doesn't create rounded rectangles or fancier images.

I dont want to spend a great deal of money but I do want something nice. Does anyone have any ideas?

PhotoShop?
PRint Shop Pro?
???

Paint Shop Pro from www.jasc.com (http://www.jasc.com) is great (and it does rounded rectangles, triangles, circles, elipses, etc.) PLUS it can use photoshop plugins. It has some built in effect slike drop shadow, button maker and soem others that are great for webpages. It is what I used when I made www.vetsoftware.com (http://www.vetsoftware.com) .
And its only $99 i think. They have a demo youc an download.

Adobe makes a light version of ps....or is it "lite"? hmmmmm. http://sysopt.earthweb.com/forum/smile.gif Anyway it's about $100 us. You can look at the comparison (http://www.adobe.com/products/photoshople/comparison.html) and see if it's worth it. Oh look, it's not light or lite....it's LE. Anyway I think paintshop pro is there better program in that price range. Photo impact 5 is another program too look at...around $80 off their website. It can do a lot of web specific things very easily and is well worth a look IMHO...you can check out the demo as well.

For programs under a 100 bucks the 3 already listed are the best of the bunch IMHO I prefer Ulead's PhotoImpact 5.0 over Jasc's PaintShop Pro 6.0. If you want to get really fancy then go with the industry standard that everything else is compaired to and that is Adobe Photoshop 5.5 http://sysopt.earthweb.com/forum/smile.gif but hang on to your wallet http://sysopt.earthweb.com/forum/frown.gif
