Hi, I'm running Windows 98. I'm installing a NIC but it installes itself more than six times.

I then put it in another PCI slot where it seems to be OK. The problem now is that I shut down Windows and it's stuck on the Shutdown screen.

My first instinct tells me that it is a driver problem.

Can anyone help me with this problem?

Thanks,

Alex.

I'm not really sure how to fix your problem with the PCI slot and the NIC but when you are stuck on the Windows Is Shutting Down screen it is caused by a conflict or something in new hardware/software. Microsoft is aware of this and has created a patch that can be downloaded at http://www.microsoft.com/windows98/downloads/contents/WURecommended/S_WUFeatured/Win98SE/Default.asp

I hope this helps with your shut down problem. It did for me when installing a NIC.

Thanks for you help. You were right; I had just install re-install the NIC so that apparently there was some conflict.

Thanks,

Alex
