Ok, so i finally bit the bullet, got myself a new Linksys 5 port 10/100 autosensing hub. I set up the network to share an internet connection (dial up). However, I continually have run into the following problem. I can NEVER direct connect to other people on AOL instant messenger. I was able to do this before on a single computer. But it just wont work over ICS. Has this happened to anyone else, and is there anyhting I can do to fix it? Thanks.

You need to open ports to do direct connect with any IM. I don't think Win ICS has options to support that. I'm not 100% sure though. I'm using Sybergen's Sygate.

Port forwarding with ICS can be done, but it isn't pretty. It's free, but it isn't pretty.

In the address line of your browser, type

mskb 231162

no www, no http, none of that. Just

mskb 231162

It describes how to forward a port in ICS with an inf file. The geeks among us ought to love it since it's not a "clicky" solution.

If you know the ports to forward for AIM, it might be easier to get a router.
