Can anyone tell me what VPN is and what is it user for.

VPN stands for Virtual Private Network. it's a security measure that implemented between two remote points on the web. it works by building an encrypted tunnel between the two points and so any traffic that's being piped through this encryption tunnel is secure. it's not 'plaintext' therefore it can't be sniffed for information.
