I have a NT as my server which is using DHCP (handing out the IP's). My main computer is a newer Win2000 while I have two other older Win98 machines. We can all access the server, but,,
1. when at one of the win98 machines, I see all of the other machines but not myself.
2. I can't see the same win98 machine mentioned above, from any of the other machines.
If anyone has a suggestion as to what the problem is, it would be greatly appreciated. I've been slaving over this for the last couple of hours. I swapped out LAN cards and have the latest driver (Realtek 8029 (as)).
Thanks,
Paul

Add lmhosts files on each of the computers:
http://support.microsoft.com/support/kb/articles/Q101/9/27.asp?LN=EN-US&SD=gn&FR=0&qry=lmhosts&rnk=1&src=DHCS_MSPSS_gn_SRCH&SPR=WIN2000
and add netbeui protocal to each computer:
http://support.microsoft.com/support/kb/articles/Q258/7/17.ASP?LN=EN-US&SD=gn&FR=0&qry=netbeui&rnk=17&src=DHCS_MSPSS_gn_SRCH&SPR=WIN2000
The second one should help the most. Email me if it helps!

Changing the Win9x PCs to disable the Master Browser should solve the problem.
This is found under Start|Control Panel|Network|MS File & Print Sharing|Master Browser (change from automatic to disable).
Sixpac's suggestion of adding NETBEUI may also help since that is a "chatty" protocol.
And his suggestion of editing/adding the lmhosts file should also help.
Either route, there are some other things that you should do to help ensure the Win9x PCs can acess network resources...

Thanks for the advice guys. Turning off the master browser was the first thing I tried and it works great, I can see the old win98 machine from the other win98, win2000 and nt4!
Thanks again,
Paul
