I've got one for y'all. I'm not sure if I should be posting this in this forum or in the CPU forum as it directly involves both. This is STRANGE, here's the deal:
I just built a system two weeks or so ago. I had a problem with the mobo (Asus A7A266) and had to send it back after a week. The week it ran, I could never get the temp lower than 62c - with a great h/s, fan and grease. Anyhoo...
Today I put the system back together w/ the new mobo. Right off the temp was 70c?????? I shut down and checked the h/s / fan - all okay!!!???
I booted back up and again, 70c (Asus monitor & SANDRA). The only program loading at startup is McAfee Firewall. I went to system monitor and my CPU usage was at 100%. I closed the only program (Firewall) and the usage dropped to 10% or so and the temp dropped to 50c within a few minutes.
'Kay, for the question: Does any of y'all run McAfee Firewall on an AMD 1.3 (or near it) and does it hog your processor and heat ya up? For that matter, anyone running McAfee Firewall, if ya could check your CPU usage and let me know.
Also, installed Zone Alarm and it doesn't even cause a blip on the system monitor or temps. Any help / advice would be great.
