"O.K. ..... I thought this would be a no brainer , but anyway ...... I've got a DSL connection w/static IP's ,NOT PPPoE , went thru the setup wizard changed all 3 'puters to "obtain IP etc ." set their gateways as 192.168.0.1 ...... on the router I set it to one of my static IP's , set the gateway IP and subnet mask ...... no go ..... I can ping all the machines internally , but of course can't get out ...... what else am I missing ?/ .... is there something else I need to set somewhere in the router?? Changed it all back to where I was to get some help from you guys and gals .... thanks "

I am trying real hard to follow you...
You said you told the computers to use the gateway 192.168.0.1...is this the IP address of your router? The gateway is your router and your computers need to point to it in order to access your DSL connection.
You said you also pinged all the machines internally...Did you ping the gateway?
Once we have more info we can go from there http://www.sysopt.com/forum/smile.gif

I don't know if this helps much, but I have a friend of mine that owns a computer store. He ordered a bunch of RT314's on my suggestion. Since that is what I use. All he had was complaints with them. Apparently he could only get it to work with PPPOE. If it wasn't PPPOE it wouldn't work. He talked to Netgear tech. for like a whole day and they couldn't help so he just sent them all back. I know this doesn't help that much. But I do know that their is a problem when not using PPPOE. I would check Netgear's web-site for a possible firmware update.

I hate hearing that about the PPPoE , grrrrr .... I'm using a static IP , mtpros , the IP of my router is the static IP and the other boxes point to 192.168.0.1 ... have I configured the router incorrectly ?? By what I've read I need to use the static IP w/ the GW IP from my ISP and their DNS IP for WAN and the router configs the LAN thru DHCP .....
