I've been using a Lucent Wireless network card on my laptop to connect to the wireless network at my university. I use it from a pretty good distance and get pretty good speed. The nice folks at Lucent added a small port to connect an antenna to, and they sell an antenna for about $70(USD). Eh, but the thrift college student doesn't want to pay $70 so I have seen plans online to build an antenna, the only problem is that I need an adapter of sorts to connect the rig up. I was reading on the O'Reilly site about buying a proprietary-to-standard adapater bascially allowing one to hook up any old antenna to the card. My question...has anybody ever seen, purchased, or no where to purchase such an adapter?

Thanks
Nukey

I can't relate to you immediate question but I do use the Lucent antennas and they make a big difference in my enviroment. Especially if the computer is below desk level, the antenna gains are worth the $74.

Hopefully someone else here can help you locate the adapter.
