My mother was reinstalling Win 98 ,and now she can't get her modem to function. It put her modem on com port 1 and it will not work. When she opens up the modem properties it only has com port 1 listed and no others.
I don't have alot of info on it right now,(don't really know what questions to ask) but will be able to find out as questions arise. What I do know is that it is a Compaq Presario, and she is using a Rockwell modem.
any help would be appreciated.

rockwell modems are should be easy to install since they are so popular, but the problem might lie in many things, check all of ur modem settings one thing it could be........is check modem diagnostics for what port to be sure what com port it is on then run sysedit and make sure about just ovr halfway in the win.ini box that the settings are correct for that modem, common settings are 9600,n,8,1,x this should be for every port but if not then maybe its ur driver that needs updating in that case go to the rockwell site where eevr that is and im sure they will offer support...good luk fixing it ;-)
