I would suggest removing the TCP/IP Protocol, reboot, and add it back. It sounds like TCP/IP didn't bind correctly to your NIC.

just a silly thought:

are you dropping the "PPP" box down in winipcfg to see if your nic card is in there??

Thats what it sounds like. If device manager is showing the hardware installed, you probably just need to use the drop down box correctly to choose the NIC.

How exactly do you remove the TCP/IP protocol? And yes i looked at the drop down list my nic is NOT listed .It only shows the PPP adapter? Thanks again for all your help!

right click on net neighborhood, choose properties, scroll down to TCP/IP(should have your nic card if its listed after tcp/ip),highlight it, then remove it. im not sure if tcp/ip would be installed if your nic wasnt detected in the machine. im guessing no.

...and if the TCP/IP isn't bound to your NIC (like S.D. Willie exlpained) then just add the TCP/IP protocol again.
