Hey there,
I have a quantum fireball 4.3, that i had when i was on a 66 bus. Now im into the 100-112 bus(which, by the way my quantum seems to like-mucho faster!). What I want to know is, when set to 66;75;83;100;112 and beyond, is that the speed bus the hd is on also?? I hear so many people saying how bad anything over 66 is for hd's, and that it will shorten their life...but... What about all the new computers using 100 bus that ARENT overclocking...? Are these people just talking about that older generation ide drives? I assume the one I have is up to the 100 mhz challenge..
Thanks for any replies!

Steve

Your HD runs at the same speed as your PCI bus, not the system bus.

FSB / PCI bus
----------------
66....33
75....37.5
83....41.65
100...33
103...34.33
105...35
110...36.67
112...37.33
115...38.33
120...40
124...31
124...41.33
133...33
133...44.33
140...35
150...37.5

So, if you run your FSB at anything but the 66, 100, or 133Mhz. bus, you're overclocking your HD, Vid. Card, or any other PCI cards that you have. Most HD's will do ok up to 37.5 (75Mhz. FSB) but some will be corrupted or stop working at 41.65 (83Mhz. FSB)
