I have a laptop with win2K with my company.
My laptop is in a win2k domain. The domain was called FOO_BAR. I had the bright idea that I wanted to share files across my home LAN. I have a workgroup at home called BAZ. Under Networking I did a change computer identity. I changed the laptop from the win2k domain FOO_BAR to the workgroup BAZ.
Now guess what? I can't log on to the laptop.
Not with my company userid/password. Not with a id/pword pair from my home lan. Not with anything. Not in safe mode. Nada. Zilch. Is there anything I can do (or a sysadmin at work) besides a reinstall of the OS? PLEASE HELP!!!

THANKS.

The sysadmin should be able to log onto local computer to straiten things out.

Your work sysadmin should be able to log on to the laptop as the local administrator and re-add your system to the doman at work.

Thanks to all. I called an 800 number
and a support person walked me through
a process of restoring things to their
previous state. There is a way in with an
admistrators password, even if the computer's
identity has been changed. And I'm not the first one to have made this mistake http://www.sysopt.com/forum/smile.gif Thanks to all for your input.

Now log on to the laptop as local computer
instead of domain and set the workgroup up.

Actually moving files is dirt simple. On the laptop I just go to "START", choose "RUN", and then type in //10.1.2.3 i.e. the ip addr of a computer whose drives I want to see. I get a window with all shared drives for 10.1.2.3 Pretty simple. No muss, no fuss, and no workgroups or domains (which is fine with me!).
