Can't make up my Mind

I just don't which route to take. I am looking at building a new system but I don't know which motherboard to buy. I want one that will give me the most options in the future so I doubt I will be buying a slot A motherboard or even a slot 1. The only other two I am left with is a socket 370 or 7. I just can't make up my mind. Then there is the chipset Intel or Via. I do like the KX133 but have read reports of Via having problems with them. I would really appreciate a lot of feed back. I know it all boils down to personal opinion but I have none. I only have theoretical experience not practical. I trust most if not all of the opinions here so I am asking. What do ya'll think will be the best for a first timer and what will leave me with the most possible options in the future. I think right now, its a really hard decision to make. Its is almost up for grabs. I honestly can't see which board would even be in use a year from now. Since intel is planningo n a 133 chipset and there are a bunch or new stuff on the horizon. I personally would wait till 3Q to make that decision.
