JacobM5727 06-23-2001, 12:43 AM ie. why? becuase it just seems better also, arent they getting rid of netscape? knucklebusted 06-23-2001, 06:58 AM I love Netscape, have used it for 5 or more years but the darned thing has been microsodomized. I'm dreading it but I'm converting to IE because there are too many pages using non-standard MS extensions that just won't work in NS. Plus, the whole Netscape thing (server side especially) has gone to ****. I can deal with buggy software for only so long until it has to get stable or gotten rid of. If there were an alternative to IE I'd be all over it. I just don't trust MS. Rob_Trahan 06-23-2001, 09:53 AM I like IE. Seems really clean to me. Easy to make the menus small and out of the way. An auto-hide for the browser menus would be nice one day. I also recently tried out Opera, and I find it really is faster. But I don't like the way their favorites is set up. To each his own. Savant 06-23-2001, 10:11 AM well, since netscape has been going to nothing since aol bought it, I've been using mostly opera on windows, still alternating on linux (opera, mozilla which is basicly netscape, galeon, netscape...) basicly anything to avoid MS and IE. Maybe its better now, I wouldn't know, but back last time I tried to use it (about 4.1) it would crash more than netscape, and screw up the whole os instead of nicely going away when it did. another thought I missed was the way on win2k it auto hides your favorites, what idiots idea was that? now it takes 3 clicks instead of 2... very effecient lol [This message has been edited by Savant (edited 06-23-2001).] DemonKnight 06-23-2001, 01:03 PM I like mozilla but I cant seem to get plugins to work with it. (flash and shock wave) I'm really liking IE6 though. Tekkitan 06-23-2001, 01:26 PM i use ie 5.5 because i hate netscape, and a lot of webpages are very compatible with it. Sixpac 06-23-2001, 07:19 PM I stick with I.E. 5.1 SP2 because its stable and works with most plugins. No Netscape. I was hoping Netscape would be a winner but then got consumed by AOL. ****. Netscape is done for. Sixpac>>> dar1again 06-23-2001, 07:33 PM thanks for all the info. pbharris 06-23-2001, 08:01 PM mozilla. ie does does not run on my platform -> GNU/Linux MrBaseball 06-23-2001, 10:39 PM IE because have had bad experiances with netscape, plus I think IE is easier to use. acid_burn~187 06-24-2001, 12:18 AM I agree with Savant. In windows i use IE cauz it's the only browser installed... but I recommend using Mozilla and Opera. Netscape is built off of Mozilla. Mozilla is way more stable and compatable than netscape 6 though. Netscape 6 is bult on a really old build of mozilla that has long since been inproved. Mozilla 1.0 should be released soon, i recommend getting it when it comes out. ~Paul ixthus 06-24-2001, 01:26 PM i thought Netscape was the only stable option for quite awhile. with IE 5's release, M$ appeared to have a fairly stable choice. netscape 6.0, i'm still not sure about[too unimpressed to bother much with it], ie 5.5 does the job quickly and efficiently now, so i haven't argured. no other reasons SysOpt.com
