Industrial Computers lose lan intermmitently.
Here are the specs:
Industrial comp. with dual PIII 700 CPU, BX440, 512Mb Ram, on board AGP 2Mb VGA and Intel pro100+ NIC.
Application: Industrial Automation with constant activity, based on HMI (heavy on graphics) and system control, data acquisition and automation process.
Symtoms: The computer is párt of a redundant system connected to a Hub - fiber. In a period between 10 and 24 hours it loses communication with the rest of the automation system. The only way to recover NIC functionality is to reboot the computer.
What was tried:
All networking settings are similar to other computers (same brand and configuration).
Swapped HD´s to the other computer - Problem stayed with the trouble comp.
- Disabled Onboard NIC and replaced with 6 other brands and types of NIC´s(UTP, Fiber, 10/100). Same problem
- Tried direct connection with cross-over UTP,same problem.
- Disabled Onboard VGA and testing OffBoard VGA with more memory - in test
- All indicates problem with MB. The question is that in 10 similar computers, 4 have the same problem. Is it possible?
- The operating system is NT Server and it seems that the problem does not happen when the Automation Process Softwares are not running. The regular LAN load never caused any problem.
