I've been trying to set up a pc to print Windows based documents to a printer that is connected to another pc. The pc in question does have the proper printer icon, etc. If I need an Ip address how can I find this printer's IP address. Any suggestions will be helpful. Thanks

You will need to make sure of several things.
1) make sure the omputers are part of the same worgroup/domain.
(to check workgroup)
right click on network neighborhood
select properties
select the identification tab
Make sure the workgroup fields match
(to check domain if applicable, note this requires that you are logging into an NT domain, and that you have an account on that domain)
right click on network neighborhood
select properties
double click on client for microsoft networks
verify the domain names are correct

2) On the machine that has the printer connected to it:

right click on network neighborhood
select properties
click on the file and print sharing button
make sure that i want to be able to allow others to print to my printer is checked.
click ok and ok
You may need to reboot at this point.

3) Again on the machine that the printer is connected to:

Click on start/settings/printers
Right click on the icon for the printer in question
Select sharing
depending on your system you may or may not have to give it a share name.

That should do it for the machine that the printer is connected to.

on the remote machine:

1) click on start/settings/printers
click on add printer
click next
select network printer, then next
then click on browse and find the machine the printer is connected to, and then the printer itself.
Leave the bottom radio button alone, click next. (your system will now need to load the appropriate drivers for this printer)
change the name if you want, Decide if you want this to be the default printer for Windows and select the appropriate radio button, click next.
Leave the radio button on yes, click finish.

that SHOULD do it.

Thanks Hawk35, the information you sent me is excellent. Sorry I wasn't able to thank you sooner. I've been busy.

God bless,
