Erm.... how?

I'm talking about a network with all of the systems set to automatic, is there a way of finsing out whihc onhas taken the role (or if OINE system was set to master) etc

I've never seen a command that can tell. With a good packet sniffer you could look at the sender when a browse list is sent.

Goto a PC and type...

net view /workgroup:"My Workgroup"

...using the quotes to. This will force the browse list to be sent to that PC from teh Master or backup.
