Just finished watching War Games and TRON. That's good stuff right there. Both made in mid-eighties but are classic movies. Any other geek movies out there?

Star Wars

****, dude.

There are lots of Geek Movies; they are far too numerous to name.

Just no one call "Starship Troopers" a geek movie, and I won't have to hurt anyone.

Check these links out:

"Matrix": http://www.detonate.net/matrix/

"Blade": http://www.detonate.net/blade/

"Hackers": http://www.detonate.net/hackers/

I don't know if they qualify for geek movies, but I enjoying watching poorly dubbed Japanese sci-fi. I really want MST-3K back!!!!

My favorite part of independence day is where he uploads a virus into a computer system that he's never seen before in his life, which uses an OS he's not familiar with and a programming environment he has no experience with. But hey, he's from MIT he can do anything.

If I remeber right, they used an Apple notebook in ID. We all know Apple sells their computers based on ease of compatibility, right http://sysopt.earthweb.com/forum/wink.gif.

No one has mentioned The Net with Sandra Bullock. It was just on TV on Channel 4 here in the UK. Thats a Geeky film.

Sandra's a systems Analyst who specializes in beta testing and troubleshooting game software. You gotta laugh.

Well Star Wars is to sci-fi what Johnny Carson is to late night; the standard to which all others are compared and aspire to.

But that aside, definitely Back to the Future. I even built my own DeLorean (http://www.culttvman.com/jzdelorean.html)!

...well, sort of...

Hey Dominus, personally I thought that Starship Troopers was a poor make on the book Heinlein wrote... If you think that the movie was great, you should try reading the book. In fact the book was very controversial for it's time. I believe it was written in the 40s or the 50s.

All you Matrix fans, good news in store. It's actually a trilogy and the next two are not too far in tow. (You know, there are some people that take that movie way too seriously when they wear all black with the trench coat.) http://sysopt.earthweb.com/forum/wink.gif

I see no one has mentioned "Phenomenon" - I know it's not your typical geek stuff, but I found myself wondering after seeing it - "{do I have a brain tumor?}"
