Hi, I'm wondering how to link a WinMe comp in Canada to a Win98 comp in England
Peer to Peer preferablly, for document sharing and a storage facility (the winme comp).
I've found a prog "HOTLINE CONNECT" anyone know about this? and is it what i'm looking for.
I was also under the impression windows has this capability on it's own like VPN for instance.
Please Help,
Thank You

You said you'd prefer peer to peer... with Windows 9x, peer to peer is all you *can* do. You need a server OS (2000, Linux, NetWare, etc) to do anything else.
9x does not include a VPN server, so unless you intend to dial directly from one to the other using the Dial-Up Networking server, you're going to need a little more.
You didn't say what you wanted to be able to do with the network. You can run FTP server apps on the boxes, dial into the Internet and FTP around, etc., but you really need to
provide a little more info.

sorry, well i guesss that's what i want to do is run my computer in Canada as a server so my friend can use it as a storage facility. That FTP idea is the best/easiest way to go?
I'll run on the net over cable so he can find my "ip" (right?) and basicly us my comp as he sees fit.

I use a free product called VNC (http://www.uk.research.att.com/vnc/) to connect to my work computer from anywhere. It's easy to set up, and may be what you are looking for.

Thanks Smokin1 That's pretty cool but the FAQ say it doesn't transfer files and that's my main reason for doing this
I'm currently using "Serv-u" that turns my pc into an ftp site like Jim9999 suggested.
Thanks both of you
