Hello

Stick around for about 3 billion years, and
you should be in for a spectacular show.
Of course, if you want to see the whole thing, you’ll have to live an additional billion years or so, give or take a few centuries.
Using one of the most powerful computers on the planet, scientists have found more evidence that our Milky Way galaxy, with about 400 billion stars including the sun, is on a collision course with a somewhat larger galaxy, Andromeda.

It'll be more interesting to look up at night about 3/4 of the way to collision and see 1/2 the sky taken up by a galaxy. Even more interesting will be the chance to observe supernovas. Since we live in the plane of our galaxy, we can't look very far inwards b/c of all the dust. They could be happening a lot but we'd never know.

Hmmm...that's a close call. I thought the Sun was going to be around for another 5 billion or so.

At any rate, I'll be dead within 2 billion years (if I don't cut back on those cheese burgers) so I guess I'll miss it all. I'll have to program my VCR in hopes that I get reincarnated after the collision; then I can watch it, assuming my TV survived.
