The Freenet (http://freenet.sourceforge.net/) beta 2.0 has been released. Freenet makes it possible to exchange any data, including MP3s anonymously while frustrating any attempt to remove the info or determine it's source. By deliberately setting themselves on a collision course with the world's copyright laws, they hope to produce a world where all information is freely shared. This proggy makes it possible to retrieve data withou reference to a central database, thus providing copyright holders without a single target. Copyright methods such as encryption or keycode requirements will be trumped up with similar encryption that covers the tracks of those sharing info.

A quote from the software developer: "If this whole thing catches on, people will look back in 20-40 years and see the idea that you can own information in the same way as gold or real estate, in the same way we look at witch-burning today."

What's your opinion?

I want to make money and enjoy the life that our present system brings but eventually (maybe centuries from now) information will be able to be free because our needs are taken care of but just like the baby boomers it's the right idea, just ahead of the right time. Every little ant helps though. Of course, time is accelerating. yeah, it's worth a shot.
