I am likely going to make some card type coolers......alot of them, and try to sell them,I would be using this fan (http://2cooltek.safeshopper.com/6/122.htm?867). It is a good fan and I can get them for a little cheaper in quantity then $14.50..........it would be pretty much be me making/finding a suitable bracket to mount the thing on and putting fan gaurds like these (http://2cooltek.safeshopper.com/20/54.htm?867) on the side that faces out.
I am thinking that I will be able to make and sell them for about 15$ +3$ shipping(this would be without me making really any profit at all, just a few dollars)
I would not do it for the money, but just for the fun of it(I love to make stuff and tweak around)
Would anyone be interested in these at all,I am just asking because I will not even bother getting the 10 fans or so that I am thinking about getting +the gaurds.

Socal and scott,I am not trying to really sell this in the way you may think, but I am trying to see if this would even be worth me taking time to do by asking my fellow sysopters what they think of it and if they would maybe want one too......it would be alot of fun for me to do,and I would be able to sell them for less then what they could get the parts for.....so if you feel this is bad for me to post this here please tell me,but please remember that I am not some comapany and I am not trying to just make a profit off you guys,I am not really trying to sell this things at all right now,but I am trying to see if there is an interest in them enough for me to bother with making them at all.

I applaud you Oblivion for attempting such a thing... I also have to point out that CMonster has made a cooler that works amazingly well... Alas, materials and marketability does not even cover the overhead. Not trying to discourage you, but coolers are out there...

Thanks for the input....what did cmonster make? I will have to find out.

I am not really trying to make all kinds of dough, but trying to hook up my friends here and elsewhere............I would not really lose any money......and the money I did make would not really enough to cover the time..........but I want to do it for the fun of it.

How did I end up in this thread?

Card coolers of various kinds have been around awhile and they certainly can be helpful; I suppose there is always room for another.

As for what I have done: I have built a liquid type CPU cooler that is efficient and adaptable, albeit somewhat cumbersome. I have experimented lately with dual heat sinks and copper plates - trying to stay with POAC (plain old air cooling). As for dumping excess case heat I have found nothing better than an extra case fan in front and an open slot in back.
