how to connect 2 PC using UTP cable without Hub

How to connect 2 PC by using UTP Cat5 and Network Adapter (on both computers) but without Hub ?

For hubless connect U need a crossover cable with RJ-45 jacks and 2 nics, 40-50$ depending on type of cards and length of cable. Beware, a regular patch cable will not work.
Both are Cat5 but if u need a long cable and are on a budget buy the cable(9 cents per foot) and connectors (1-4$) seperately and ill tell u how to stuff and crimp it properly.

I already have the UTP Cat5 cable and RJ45 connectors, both PC installed Network Adapters supporting for 100MB. Is it need a different crossover on the cable, how to make it work, example: supporting 100 or 10 base ?

I have configure on it and it works.
But why it's only supported to 10MB base, since my two network adapter is capable for 100MB base ?

Double check your drivers to make sure that the cards aren't forced into 10Mbps mode.

Crossover cables DO work with 100Mbps mode. I've used it many times to transfer data between my laptop and desktop.

I do changed the Driver setting for my both 3-com network adapters, under control panel, network, adapter properties, advanced tab, I changed the value from 10FullMode to 100FullMode. But it dosn't work.

It only work when both setting are in 10FullMode, is there anywhere to get the one supported for 100 base ?
