I have two machines i want to network to a cable modem, i am thinking of getting the netgear sb105 network starter kit. I would like to know if there are any tips or suggestions that may help me.

System 1:

I'd suggest the Linksys 4port CableModem/DSL router and 2 10/100 PCI network cards.

The router has a 4 port switch built in, so no need of a hub, and the router will share the internet connection between the computers.

Just plug the cable modem into the router, a NIC into each machine, then hook each machine to the router. Configure the computer for DHCP and let the router do all the work.
