What is a good range to set for my CPU warning and shutdown features in my BIOS?

Wht is a good range for a PIII 650 regular and overclocked?

I read some reviews on 3dcool's products and for the twin turbo exhausr fan one said to put it upside down to cool off your cd-r. Doe it really get that hot??

Are 3dcool's products any good??

Thanks

The range is really dependent on the following: 1) how hot you are willing to run your CPU, 2) what the ambient temperature is of your case and or room temp, 3) the type of CPU cooler you are using, 4) the known temperature (for your CPU) that it begins to show instability.

This thread discussed the maximum temperatures for each type and speed of Intel Pentium III, so you can use that as a guide of sorts.

It really comes down to personal preference, and how closely you want to monitor changes in the temperature. Personally on mine, at stock speeds, it averages between 28-34 degrees depending on how hot I let the room get. Overclocked, it gets as high as 40C when the room is also really warm. I have my alarms set for 50C as that is all the hotter I am willing to ever let it get. Now, its never gotten close to that temp, but thats the arbitrary number I chose as I felt it was well within the maximum rated temp for the CPU.

As for CDR's and heat, you bet they do get hot. Some obviously more than others, but they do generate heat as do all of the other devices in your system when they are used.

Haven't personally bought any 3dcool products, but I'm sure others here can give you their opinions on them.
