Needed a new car,had to decide new or used.My daughter is driving now so I thought, lets try getting a used car she could take over in a year.
Carmax heard good thing about them.
(Certified High-Quality Used Cars)
Well I've had my new used car from Carmax for two months and it has an oil leak (oil pan gasket). It vibrates and stalls out at stop lights. Even after I tuned it up.

So lets take it to Carmax
(State-Of-The-Art Service After The Sale)
Factory-trained & A.S.E.-certified technicians.

This is what I got $150 to change the gasket and I'm sorry but the vibration is just the way that car is, there is nothing we can do to fix it. I put my best machanic on it.

Well they got there $8500 out of me.

But I got to say they where smiling and very nice while they screwed me.

Just want to say Thank you for letting me vent some frustation here.

What kind of car? I would not take their word as gospel, get a second opinion, preferably from a dealer. Did you reseach any of this on the web?

things to check for vibration frontdrive cars cv joints, rear dr. u joints if on stoping brake rotors if idling in neutral shot it off remove air intake hose and look inside intake while throtle wide open if you see any gunk inside it means high mileage its caused by blowby. disassemble and clean with one of the spray cleaners.make sure the check engine/emissions light hasnt been disconected [a little trick to sell a car with excess blowby.they clean intake ,disconnect light and sell]if the light works cleaning will prob last 20k miles.give more details on viberation, speed.ac on/off, on accelration, deceleration, etc.barry

Actually, some 4 cylinder front wheel drive cars are normal, for what may seem like alot of vibration, when idling at a stop and in gear
