Woopee, PC133 RAM!

Can anybody say "overclocker's dream" ???

Anybody actually got their systems to overclock even further with the new PC133 RAM as compared with their PC-66/100 RAM chips?

Local computer stores may not have them here, but you can get them at Micron. They're about the same price as PC-100.

I've just ordered one of those in a 256 meg bit-size chip. Gonna ask my uncle, who by the way owns his own computer store, for one of his DUAL PENTIUM II/III motherboards, pop in the ram, 2 PENTIUM III - 550MHZ CHIPS, THE PC133 RAM, the VOODOO III - 3000 CARD, AND A TON HARD DRIVE SPACE COMING IN CAPACITY OF 22GIGS BROUGHT TO YOU BY IBM, AND SEE HOW FAR I CAN PUMP THIS BABY UP WITHOUT FRYING HIS "***"-ETS.

Hhmmm...I can't wait.
Perhaps I can get 1.4 gigahertz out of this baby.....

Until the Consortium's PC133 Specs are published, and the means of verifying them is clear, I hesitate to accept Micron's (or anyone else's) claims thereto.

However, the individual chips' specs likely are in line with the new "present".

The other stuff - way kewl!

But ducky, is there any reason we should buy into this this time around?

If you're an overclocker, or you want the latest, newest, fastest, get the PC133 RAM.
Take your PII 400, and run it (multiplier locked at 4) at 112 or 133 mhz bus. Add some cooling, and you're done. Some PC100 RAM won't handle the speeds.
My PIII 500 at 560 easy, and Linux at 665, but winodws won't boot at 665 http://www.sysopt.com/forum/frown.gif
I'm going for a Kryotech case next to get the 665 in Windows98.
Cheers, Jim

High quality CL2 PC100 sticks will run at 133. PC133, when it comes out, will go even faster. I'm looking forward to a P3-600 with 0.18micron trace technology running at 153 on my BX6-2. 690MHz. Whee! Or maybe by then I'll have moved to a BE6 and someone will have to take my hand-me-down. http://www.sysopt.com/forum/wink.gif
