I own two systems that both have
1. Windows ME installed.
2. A realtech 10/100 network cards.
3. lindy 100 network crossover cable.
4. Diamond supra-express internal modems.
5. One English phone line

The network works fine but i want both computers to be able too access the internet when one dials up.

If i set them both up for internet connection they wont share if one dials up and if i set them both not to share it dont work either.

Thanks in advance for any input

Have you set up ICS on just one of the computers? If not, then set up ICS on only one of the computers, and that should work properly.

Personally I would buy Wingate which will allow you to share you internet with the other computer.

Check it out at http://www.wingate.com

The only sharing software I know of that permits doing what you want is NAT32, with whichever modem first dialing out providing access to the other computer as well. You'd do it by installing NAT32 on both computers, changing the NAT32 virtual IP address on one of the computers from its default of 192.168.0.100 to, say, 192.168.0.101. Then you'd set the gateway of each computer to NAT32's virtual IP address of the other computer. At one time I had mine and my wife's computers set up this way in order to not tie up both phone lines. Whichever of us happened to connect first would automatically provide access to the other as well. NAT32 is the only sharing software I know of that permits that sort of IP address/gateway manipulation. Perhaps there are others I don't know about.
