The sick, sadistic nature of the scum who commited the crime, or the fact that you just got sysopt sued by posting copywrited material on their bulletin board? Warthog 05-12-2000, 02:14 PM I was just thinking the exact same thing, Apostle http://sysopt.earthweb.com/forum/smile.gif. Anyway, it's hard (if not impossible) to explain why people do stuff like that. Usually there always has to be SOMETHING to blame a crime on - ie Columbine it was video games, parents, whatever else. They'll probably just say that they had psychological problems and have them see a psychiatrist while serving their long sentence in prison. Warthog Warthog 05-12-2000, 02:18 PM whooaaa chipbgt http://sysopt.earthweb.com/forum/smile.gif, I don't think Apostle (or I) meant anything by that. Although I'm not the one to decide on the legal issues here. Personally I doubt that anyone besides us members are going to see that.... Warthog chipbgt 05-12-2000, 02:52 PM Well I will just save us any discussion on it. OuTpaTienT 05-12-2000, 03:44 PM Darn. I miss all the good stuff. chipbgt 05-12-2000, 03:53 PM didnt miss anything..I just posted copyrighted material ( a news story) and took it off. no biggie jad1097 05-12-2000, 04:14 PM Seems to me that many people post news storys and I see nothing wrong with it myself as long as there is a link to the story and you quote it. As a matter of fact I know many people post copywritten material all the time. Could you post a link for me or e-mail it to me? Sharpy 05-12-2000, 04:49 PM I agree at least give us something to disagree about. http://sysopt.earthweb.com/forum/wink.gif Please post the link these suspenders are killing me. EDIT - Oops I meant the suspense is killing me. http://sysopt.earthweb.com/forum/wink.gif [This message has been edited by Sharpy (edited 05-12-2000).] Warthog 05-12-2000, 04:54 PM Suspenders, eh? The true geek in you is showing. http://sysopt.earthweb.com/forum/wink.gif Warthog Warthog 05-12-2000, 05:13 PM http://www.cnn.com/2000/LAW/05/12/railroad.trial.01.ap/index.html Headline is: "Psychiatrist says serial killer believes he's on a 'mission from God'" My point exactly. Just happened upon this story at good 'ol CNN. Please post the link again?? We need some feedback. Warthog jad1097 05-12-2000, 05:22 PM Here is a link to the story. http://www.pioneerplanet.com/news/mtc_docs/021138.htm According to a criminal complaint filed Wednesday, the three friends drove around the Twin Cities looking for someone to kill on the night of the shooting. They talked about using their gun to rob and kill people because they were out of money. As they drove north on Mississippi River Boulevard, the complaint states, they saw Basta riding his bike in the other direction. They turned around, passed him, and turned onto a side street to let him pass. McNeill, who was allegedly driving his mother's 1988 Nissan Sentra, pulled out and drew next to Basta, asking his passengers, ``Are you going to do it or not?'' Stewart cocked the 9mm pistol, pointed it out the window and shot Basta in the back, the men told police investigators in a confession. Basta, a high school junior, was later pronounced dead at Regions Hospital. After the shooting, according to the complaint, the men laughed and bragged about getting their ``first blood.'' Things like this are happing more often. A 15-year-old kid for a **** gang initiation killed my cousin in DC several years ago! She had a friend who was with her who survived. Wait now what story is it here? Otherwise, I would start a meganews site and use articles from CNN, Wired, and every other major news publication, put the stories in quotes, and link to the original source. Somehow I doubt the respective companies would appreciate that regardless. chipbgt 05-12-2000, 06:17 PM Which is why I took the story down...I have no idea on the copyright rules, and the last thing I want to do is Get sysopt in trouble for my ignorance. OuTpaTienT 05-12-2000, 06:31 PM hmmmmmm, what are you guys doing reading the Communist News Network anyways? ...or was that the Clinton News Network? ...China News Network? ...Cuba News Network? ...Castro News Network? ceedee 05-13-2000, 06:24 AM what ??
