The QNX operating system will be released for non-commercial use soon. QNX is the fastest microkernel Unice ever developed, and should even outperform BeOS. If your wondering "Why should I run QNX?", then check out:

PS - After re-reading this, this sounds like an late night infomercial. Any rate, check it out. If you like BeOS, you definite want to check out QNX.

"Our goal is simple: to have the QNX platform run in one third of the over 400 million e-devices that, according to market analysts, will ship in 2003," said Gordon Bell, president of QNX.

Ambitious aren't they. They must have free Starbucks coffee for all their employees.
Thanks for the link Rob.

I am remotely familiar with Linux and UNIX but used it rarely when I had it installed in my system. Is this something I should try out?...seeing as I am not a programmer and don't have a server that I run... The OS sounds great.
Thanks
Dave

There already shipping QNX in several devices currently on the market. Those I-Opener computers at Cicuit City are just one example.

If you haven't downloaded their demo disk, check it out:

The demo has a complete OS core, web browser, tcp/ip stack, and dial-up networking manager. They did some extremely impressive coding to develop it.
