I have a Netware 3.1 server that crashes anytime I try to run any utility or command (bindfix, down, settime etc.) I can't unload vol sys or vol 1 without crashing either. I would like to run vrepair from the system 1 or 2 disk but am having no luck. This was easy on Netware 2.x - can it be done on Netware 3.x??

Change the following set parameters within NetWare:
1. set allow invalid pointers = on
2. set read fault emulation = on
3. set write fault emulation = on
Then after the vrepair is run, down the server and bring it back up (to clear the memory) and reset the parameters.
After doing this, try the vrepair operation again.
I'm not sure about running it from a disk, I'll see if I can determine a way in case the above doesn't work.

Ahh, here is what you want... http://support.novell.com/servlet/filedownload/pub/vrp386.exe
This file contains VREPAIR.NLM for NetWare v3.11 & v3.12
1) Bring up the file server without attempting to mount the bad volume (like server.exe -na )
2) Using the diskette that has this version of VREPAIR on it type, at the console prompt, LOAD A:VREPAIR.
You can load VREPAIR from the network drive or a C partition, however, it is recommended that this VREPAIR be loaded from the A drive so as not to confuse it with the standard VREPAIR already loaded on the system.
