Intel has released a press report claiming that the Memory Translator Hub is defective on i820 motherboards. This HUS is only present on the SD-RAM versions of motherboards built on the i820 chipset. Those with RAMBUS memory are not affected.
Here's the orginal press release:

Those with an i820 and SD-RAM should really keep an eye on this issue. I assume it will be up to the actualy motherboard or system vendor to determine if they want to recall cetain boards.

Well I just bought one of these boards but I can honestly say that it is the most stable board I have had yet and I am running my 600e@857 with no stability problems and i run RC-5 24/7 so I am looking for some advice here. Should I try and get my money back or a new board or have I maybe got lucky and got a board which is not affected.....any ideas guys http://sysopt.earthweb.com/forum/smile.gif.

Not all boards were affected. Only about a million (hehe). If you goto Intel's site, there is a program you can run to test the board. Sysopt.com had this topic in their news thingy-ma-bob on the homepage yesterday.

Well I sent an email to Supermicro and this is what they said
"Hi, due to the fine-tuning of our motherboard, our motherboard is very quite
and does not have the same problem caused by the noise as other
motherboards. Actually, Intel was surprised by the fact that our board runs
very stable in thier testing lab. Therefore, our i820 and i840boards do not
have the same problems as other boards do. However, we are also evaluating
the market situation and we have not yet come up with a decision yet. Once
a decision is made regarding the i820 chipset issues, I will let you know.
Please contact us in a few days regarding this issue. Thanks. "
It has reasured me a bit as like I say I have not had any problems YET http://sysopt.earthweb.com/forum/smile.gif
