i think i've got a couple metallica mp3's and i use napster, i hope i'm not on the list. i'm losing respect for metallica over this and gaining it for fred durst (although i hate his music) and his free concert tour sponsered by napster

Same topic. (http://sysopt.earthweb.com/forum/Forum1/HTML/005999.html)
"The names were gathered by NetPD, a consulting firm hired by Metallica to monitor the site between April 28 and April 30."

No offense to Metallica or anyone who likes em, but they are losing sales because thier new music BITES.
The fade to black, master of puppets, enter sandman stuff was awesome...but thier new stuff is....well...yea.

I don't know AuraEdge, "I Disappear" really isn't bad... A local radio station got the MP3 from Napster and has been playing it daily until they're ordered to stop.

"...and Justice for All"

By far their best. Also probably their most underated/un-noticed release.

I'd rate "Ride the Lightning" a strong 2nd.
"Kill'em All" 3rd.
"Master of Puppets" 4th

The self-titled "black album" was thier last album as far as I'm concerned. It's all fluffy re-hashed **** after that. The new kinder, gentler Metallica.....bah!

Here in SC, you cannot be taped, recorder or listened in on without your knowledge. In that case, I assume I am exempt. What about privacy??? There's no way Metallica can do anything unless Napster is scared into it. They have no power b/c of our privacy laws. It's all a sham. I am beginning to hate my favorite high school band. :{

Dang, I downloaded Unforgiven 2 from Napster between their sting days. I liked the first version and have it on Cassette http://sysopt.earthweb.com/forum/smile.gif, but well, after listening to it, I decided I didn't like it...so I deleted it and am not going to buy their CD. Guess they don't like that eh? They want you to spend $20 on their CD to find out you don't like anything it, but hey...they still get a cut! Whatever. Even if Napster goes down, there will be lots of others to take it's place!

Not that I indorse people violating copyright laws, what they are doing is invading the privacy of others.

Unless they downloaded each mp3 and listened to them they have NO way of knowing if that was actually their content. Rather they probably had a spider search for their key words and pinged all of those hosts and gather the ip addresses.

That would be funny for individuals to sue them for violating their privacy as I am sure they did not use napster to do this, and if they did then have napster go after them for using their software in an un-authorized way.

Oh well this will be fun to watch..

Black Flag is awesome! Hardest of the hardcore! Rollins is truly one demented MF! My War was the first song I heard by them. Man I could relate to most of that old punk. Then there was the Circle Jerks and of course DK. Nothing like droping http://sysopt.earthweb.com/forum/wink.gif in the pit at the Cameo theater!

In many ways, Black Flag were the definitive Los Angeles hardcore punk band. Although their music flirted with heavy metal and experimental noise and jazz more than that of most hardcore bands, they defined the image and the aesthetic. Through their ceaseless touring, the band cultivated the American underground punk scene

Here (http://wsrv.clas.virginia.edu/~whm4e/blackflag) is another page with some real player files. Check out My War, what a true song!

Yeah Metalica cut their hair and EVERYthing changed, hehe...anyone notice Napster is sponsoring a MAJOR concert tour this summer at a cost of over a 100mil?...Originally Metalica was on the bill?...Maybe there is more to this then silly rockstar millionaires losing 1/10 of a penny for each Napster trade we do...

The band known as Metallica SUCKS ever since Cliff Burton died. The band ceased to exists in my mind and the mind of many others. Fade to black sucked you can still hear a little bit of Metallica in the album but not much. Give it up people Metallica is DEAD!!

Eli

Metallica is far from dead. I'm one of the few who like the newer stuff, although S&M just bugs me. Even The Unforgiven II, which I hated at first, really grows on you if you give it half a chance.

EDIT
I should really start using that new spell check feature...

I quit listening after their Black album. I used to love their music but it has lost its edge and lost its soul. That cover album was just attrocious. I listened to it in Millineum records after making a trip there specifically to buy the cd. Glad they had it on their listening station otherwise I would've been ticked when I listened to it.

Never have heard them and after all this BS
with Napster, I could care Less. I listen to real music like the Cream, Steppenwolf, Santana; Crosby , Stills , Nash and Young, Chicago, ect. IMO, music went down hill in the seventies, esspecially the new alternative rock, What a joke!! How could any of these compare with Jim Morrison???????Or Jimi or Janis??? nuff said.

Well it all started back in 1970 with Black Sabbath. Chicago? What about Rush or Pink Floyd? You have to like them, right?

Ok I think some people like em and some dont..Im sure that some wanna killemall but...To get to the point...Im not gonna pay 20 bucks for some weak in the knees remakes of songs that are close to a decade old..And I actually used to like metalica but ..after this stunt...I wish world would never buy another metalica item. Too bad ya cant down load T-shirts and wall banners in mp3 format..Metalicas punishment for the invasion of privacy should be to have to produce mp3s for the rest of their lives and never make another dime....lol

Dont think this subject warrants a new thread so here it is again.

It looks like a few people cant get into napster with their user names.

I was one of those banned....I don't even like the band, I just had one of their songs, it would be one thing if they told you to delete them, but they baned me! You know I wonder if Metallica's website will be up for very long...300,000 angry people....some of them angry hackers....

But seriously, I think a boycott should be organized against Metallica....they ruined Napster for many of it's greatest users.

There site has already been hacked.

Just sign up a new username...as I understand it they just banned user names, not ip's.

Methinks there is gonna be 335,435 napster users giving metalikka "DA FINGAH!" hee hee...
Am I not mistaken in that they say that it is cool with them when people make bootleg tapes of their concerts? Buncha buttheads, they need to make up their mind.
