I have both the SB Live! Value and the MX300 in my two systems and am very happy with each. I have similar sound quality out of both. Check the prices and go for the cheaper of the two. If they are the same price I would give the edge to the MX300 because it has less bloatware (Live Ware 3.0 is huge). Both handle overclocking (to 112MHz at least) well. I believe the SBLive!! would handle higher fsb speeds better but that is only b/c I have heard more about the SBLive in this area. Good luck and you should be able to find either one for a pretty low price (<~$50 USD)

I went to pricewatch.com and bought an MX300 for $40 bucks. It was oem, like you didn't expect it, but it's a nice card. I've had some problems with the newer Vortex 2 reference drivers though, but it seems to be just me. I love the card, but in light of Aureal being in the dark, I'd say go with SBLive value because there might not be support for much longer from a3d.

On the other hand, you can help A3D out by buying a SQ2500, and writting a letter to S3 (now aquired by Via Tech.) begging them to buy A3D...

I like the MX300 though...

I am looking for a new sound card that support by win2k. I currently have the Diamond MX200, which does not support by win2k.
I am looking at SBLive!, Vortex 2, Turtle Beach, Diamond MX300/400...

What do you guy think is the best card at...

Best Quality Sound?

Most Supported Sound Card?

Card Company reputation?

Best Value Card?

Overall Best?

thanks all
