A MAC shouldn't should not have any problem when using many (probably even most) of the Internet sharing programs. Wingate specifically will work.

Check the basics first...

1) Can you ping from MAC to PC?
2) Can you ping MAC to Internet IP address
3) Can you ping MAC to Internet host name?
4) Is the MAC's web browser told to use the PC'IP address as a proxy?

how do you make the mac ping? and yes it is set to use the ps's ip as the proxy server
