What is the most efficient and cost effective way to setup a 2 computer network using a Surfboard SB 3100 Cable modem and 2--I repeat 2 IP addresses?
Don't forget I have 2 IP addresses...lol.
Thanks

Easiest: Hook cable modem to hub, both comptuers to hub, use your *2* ip addresses. :P This method also makes file/print sharing very insecure.
Best: Get a cable/dsl router, or another NIC for one of the computers and run some internet sharing software. I went for the router myself..almost as easy to set up as the above method. Routers can be had for $150 or less. However, you dont get to use both IPs.

Best is subjective. If you have two IP's, the best way, IMO, is to use them. There are numerous ways to secure your machines, not the least of which is free firewall software. Plug the modem into your hub and both rigs into the hub. If you have tcp/ip installed and are getting the IP's dynamically, there is very little to do.
