im only getting like 10k/s from my comp, but roomates on same conn with slower comps get like 50k/s

it shouldnt...what you have listed there are in Kbps (?), and nic's are rated by Mbps

Depends on how you run your network. By the title I'm assuming you are running dsl and your friends are sharing along with yourself. Depending how you config/run your network you might be the slowest on the list. For example, if you are in a ring config and you are the last person everyone before you are faster. ethernet card speed won't matter because your dsl can't go 10 megabytes per sec. Ask your roommates if they are setting a higher perference over you. Also might want to try installing netbeui along with tcp/ip. Broadcast much faster than tcp/ip. ok, hope this helps.

thanks guys i figured it all out...

i tried another network card and it was the same...

well i remember a while ago i ran mtuspeed for my modem to mess with the registry, and just recently my friend gave me something to change the registry to optomize it for dsl

and at this site i now get right around 1.5mps so i am happy, thats all working now

Do you know what the name of that software is?? I'm on my school's lan thats is siad to be 10 mbit. but i can't even get around 500 kbps. THanks
