has anyone used sygate successfully?
after two attempts and two times of having my network settings totally hosed i have decided that sygate is a crappy program. I have also spent the past two hours helping a guy fix his system that was trashed by sygate. anyone else have any experiences with sybergen...good or bad?

I've been using their SyGate product now for several years...no problems yet.

Me too, I have only good experiences with Sygate, used it on two networks now, with nothing bad happening.

Before my current network setup I used Sygate for MANY lans and it worked flawlessly. I sad to hear your having trouble with yours...Maybe a few posts down in the networking forum with a bit more detail might get you going http://sysopt.earthweb.com/forum/smile.gif

I use WIN98se's ICS with no problems but I've always wondered about the advantages of Sygate over the simple ICS. Isn't there a visible management tool if you run Sygate? Seems it gives more complexity issues than is necessary. What are the beneficial differences anyway? Thanks.

i wish i could tell ya the benefits of sygate...but i won;t put it on my computer or recommend it anymore. I have attempted to use it twice, and every time i have used it, my tcp/ip gets corrupted to the point that i have to reinstall it. plus i have never been able to get it so that the two or three computers have ever been able to communicate through sygate (but file sharing works great....).
I spent over an hour on the phone with a customer of the ISP i work for trying to get him nack to where he was before sygate. uninstalling sygate left registry entries that would not allow him to boot into windows at all...
right now i am using win proxy....took about 2 minutes to install on the computer with the cable modem, and about the saem amoun of time to configure it....and it works great with transparent NAT...so i bought a license already...
