Sounds like routing is only enabling some ports. What port does the printer use? I don't know offhand, but I think using LAN EXPLORER would tell you if you monitored while trying...you will see all traffic and the ports its on.

( besides that, it's cool, and the trial version will tell you all you need to know...but it is time limited. )

I am having a problem installing a printer that is located in England. The server is in Utah. From the server in Utah I can not ping the ip of the printer, however I can go to my workstation and ping it no problem. The subnet of the server is 255.255.0.0 and the subnet of the printer is 255.255.255.0 I don't think that this is the problem but just wanted to give you some info on that. The default gateway is set at 10.0.0.1 and I can ping the local ip and the default gateway but I can not ping the router or the printer at the site in England. I opened up a dos window and tried to ping www.yahoo.com (http://www.yahoo.com) but could not. I also did an nslookup on it and tried to ping on of the addresses and I could not. Next I opened ie explorer and went to www.yahoo.com (http://www.yahoo.com) no problem. I am not sure what is going on but if you could help shed some light on this I would greatly appreciate it. Thanks.
