I don't remeber the exact details of how I got here, but I know I was researching overclocking. That lead me to the message board where I stayed in the Overclocking and CPU's forum for quite some time.

How about you??

I arrived here because a friend sent me a link to resellerratings.com and I then browsed the site and found this wonderful place. Seems like the first post I remember reading was about this guy who dogged someone else on a deal or two and would not make good and you guys pretty much gave him the once over. Cant remember his name. I do remember that he came back and made a halfa#s attempt to redeam himself and failed there. Anyone have a clue to who I am talking about. Seems like this was about 4 months ago.

friend/co-worker was surfing at lunch and I asked him what site he was on. Deja-vu all over again, I'm at work now while I write this. One good thing about night shift, very low ****-head boss levels, and the connection doesn't bog down like on days when all the day pukes are surfing instead of working.Oops, there's the pot calling the kettle black, back to doing something semi-productive...sigh...

Way back when I got my first FIC 503+ M/B, I was checking everybody out because I could'nt get my serial ports working. Well, I found a thread here with the answer, when nobody else could help (turned out that you HAVE to use the cables supplied with the M/B)and have been coming back ever since. Good people here. May not always have the answers, but it's obvious the best shot is given. Don't hardly bother with the other boards anymore...the constant flaming and indifference gets pretty tiresome.

OCing info hunt here too..Found this place and been here ever since..(I think that was 4 months ago?) ..The wife just dusted me off do ya think that is a hint?? LMAO...Spent about a week going thru just about every message in the archives as well as the ones that were current..now that was a reading marathon LOL
Think my first question post was about getting a sound card to work in what I eventually came to believe were burnt out ISA slots in a 486 I was toying with, the PCI were fine though..Never did find out what the prob was..Funny thing is that they started working 2 weeks ago when I decided to mess with the mobo again so go figure LOL..

i think i first starting posting here because of overclocking. (my celeron 333 never did hit anything other than 333) I joined RC5, learned a little about NT, and have solved a mountain load of problems that normally would have had me stumped for a while.

You guys/gals/and "socal"gals are the best. Really and truely. I even metion the board when having computer discussions, "How should I know why your UBS to PS/2 to Serial convertor doesn't work.. ooh, I'll post it on SysOpt when I get home"

The best site on the net!!! I can not even remember what I used the net for before I came here.

I was doing my first build in July/Aug 1999 and checked out lots of sites for component recommendations and guides, like Sharky's, Hardware Central, etc. Everyone had great info, but the Sysopt BBS seemed to be the one that was most forgiving of newbies. Thanks to the advice my first homebuilt fired up first time. Can't ask for better than that.
In return, I contribute my RC5 blocks to Sysopt's glory!

I needed a link to an obscure Mobo manufacturer, asked the excite search engine for links page to Mobo manufacturers, and it came up with sysopt, ( that was when sysopt had a mobo links section on the first page, took me a few visits before I got nosey and looked at the BBS side of the site.

I ran across this place a couple of weeks ago, (jeeze almost over a month ago I guess) when I somehow managed to fry the MB in my Gateway that had just run out of warranty. All I wanted was some recommendations for a new one, as I've always wanted to build a computer from scratch. Then somebody said the magic word.....overclocking. Well, suffice it to say, I find it easier to just leave the case off of my new computer, which incidentally fired up on the first time thanks to you guys. I've learned a lot of useful stuff here since then, from overclocking to networking and more...

I think I'll stay for a while.

It was back when Celeron 300A's were the hot ticket, with a high percentage of them reaching 450mhz and higher even. Well, I never had faith in overclocking because all I read were the "possible" shortcomings and disadvantages. So I went out and bought a genuine p2-450 for myself. A month later, my parents wanted a new computer (they were jealous of mine http://www.sysopt.com/forum/wink.gif, which I bought from my acquired summer job money). They weren't really into spending as much as I did. I really spent the research and time to find the best that money could buy, sometimes overdoing it though. I figured now would be a good time to land with a Celeron 300A system, and if it went to 450 like most of my friends said, then cool. If not, no biggie, not like my parents are going to play quake and need the extra mhz. Welp, short of wanting to drain my friends of their time, I did a little research and stumbled on this site and even found out how to overclock my old P90 to 100, although it really did cause it to be more unstable so I dropped it back to 90.

I didn't sign up to be a member of the Forum until I considered the prospects of getting my cable connection in the near future, and wanted to know ahead of time what I'd be getting myself into (cable home network, linux router/firewall etc). After receiving some positive feedback, I decided this would be a nice place to call home. By far one of the most mature and well moderated message boards I've seen. Good job SoCalGal, and thanks to everyone who's ever taken my advice. http://www.sysopt.com/forum/smile.gif

About a year ago, I was searching with Yahoo for tips and how to's for building a PC and found the "How to build your own PC" guide. I didn't really get into this BBS until recently, figuring it would be like most others; a collection of "d00dz" and flame wars. What I found here was quite different from any other BBS... people helping other people, sharing their ideas, and conversing intelligently. When someone posts a "stupid" question, people respond kindly and point them in the right direction for more information, instead of insulting them.
I'm glad I found this place, and hope to stick around for a while http://sysopt.earthweb.com/forum/smile.gif

January 2, 2000--> I had decided to Overclock my system for the 1st time, so I consulted several websites that dealt with the subject, one of which was PCHardware.com, and then I came across SysOpt.
Then, about 2 months later I decided to check out the forum, I saw a collection of seemingly http://sysopt.earthweb.com/forum/smile.gif intelligent people sharing information in a constructive matter. I was surprised! I expected it to be like the few chat rooms I had visited before...a bunch of people discussing way Off Topic issues.

I'm glad that the 1st Forum I joined was a great one, very informative, and always up-to-date!

Keep up the Great Work SysOpt!!

Hmmm, I've been wondering about this myself. Seems like the best places I find I can't recall how I got there.

I do know that I was on my mate's 'puter because mine died in transit. (Never throw away the case box!)I was looking for my best option at getting my own computer again.

Think I found Reseller Ratings before the mesage boards. Until I found SysOpt I was seriously considering buying from Tiger Direct!

I can't remember how I found out about SysOpt but I first visited here well over a year ago and eventually joined the BBS (as DavidX). Of all the major BBSs, SysOpt remains "simply the best".
