I was an user of zonealarm (it looks really good), but i noticed that this "free" software had created a subfolder named internetlogs in my windows folder, and it contained two database files(that i could not open) that were increasing its size. I also noticed that something was ocurring each time my cursor was onto a web link (even if was disconnected), so it is logic to suspect that the "free" firewall is catching all your internet habits and it is sendind them to someone somewhere. You know man, sadly there is nothing really free in this world (or almost nothing, i hope cyberkit to be the exception). Well, that is my experience with this program, check it out people.

I got the files you mentioned and I can see where you are coming from but i has still stopped attacks on my PC so for the moment I will give it the benefit of the doubt and hope I am doing the right thing. Guess you have to be suspicious of every proggy with net access these days.

We had a large dicussion on this issue awhile back. I am using two different firewalls, Conseal and ZA. ZA is being ran behind Conseal. I have set Conseal to log all outgoing information that is suspect. I have never seen a single packet of information being sent back to ZA. The upgrade check and registration checks in ZA do send certain amounts of info back, but the packets are too small to contain any data on your surfing habits.

In other words, enjoy ZA as true freeware. ZoneLab's developed it to test their TrueVector packet filtering software. By expecting that a few ZA users will send feedback, they can determine any weakness in their code. The code is planned to be released in a corporate level firewall at a later date.

Dont be afraid of zonealarm.
I had the same suspisions you had because its
free ware and freeware often uses commercial
ways to collect money.
For this reason i monitored zonie and it didnt send any data only at registering.
Those files you mentioned contain youre settings and youre computername and IP.
When you uninstall zonie and you install it again you can see that it has remembered youre settings.
So dont worry its one of the best firewalls
and one of the simplest.
